Group Analysis

Group B is Canada’s moment. After qualifying for their first World Cup in 36 years in Qatar 2022, Canada now arrive as co-hosts with knockout-round ambitions. Alphonso Davies — the Bayern Munich left back widely considered the best in the world at his position — gives Canada a player capable of single-handedly changing any game. Jonathan David’s 40+ goals per season at Lille make him one of world football’s deadliest strikers. Canada open at home in Toronto on June 12 against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Switzerland are quietly the most consistent group-stage performers of any nation since 2006 — they have not been eliminated in the first round since that year.
