Group Analysis

Netherlands — runners-up in 2010, third in 2014, quarter-finalists in 2022 — arrive with a genuinely dangerous squad. Virgil van Dijk remains one of the world’s elite centre-backs at Liverpool. Xavi Simons has exploded into one of Europe’s most exciting attacking midfielders. Memphis Depay and Cody Gakpo provide attacking depth. The Oranje have tournament pedigree.

Japan are the most dangerous team in this group on their day. In 2022 they did the unthinkable: eliminated both Germany and Spain to top their group before a penalty shootout exit to Croatia. Takefusa Kubo at Real Sociedad is a playmaker of genuine international class. Daichi Kamada and Ritsu Doan give Japan technical quality throughout. No team in Group F can afford to underestimate the Samurai Blue.

Sweden return to the World Cup built around Alexander Isak — the Newcastle striker who has become one of the Premier League’s most lethal finishers. Tall, pacey, technically excellent, Isak gives Sweden a truly world-class focal point. Sweden are perfectly capable of finishing second in this group.

Tunisia are Africa’s most experienced World Cup nation, appearing for the sixth time. Tactically disciplined and difficult to break down, they are fully capable of causing an upset.

🎯 PREDICTION: WHO ADVANCES?

1st: Netherlands — quality and experience. 2nd: Japan — lightning-fast counter-attack can shock anyone. Sweden vs Japan is the group’s defining clash for second place.
