Group Analysis

Group A opens the entire tournament — Mexico kick off the FIFA World Cup 2026 at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11. The same stadium where Diego Maradona scored the 'Hand of God' and the 'Goal of the Century' in 1986. El Tri are one of three co-host nations and arrive under enormous expectation. Hirving Lozano — the PSV and Naples winger — leads a Mexican side that knows this is a once-in-a-generation chance to go deep on home soil.

South Korea are the group's most dangerous rival. The Taeguk Warriors reached the semi-finals when hosting in 2002 and carry genuine tournament pedigree.
